Zou Ping
As long as he can remember Zou Ping has loved to paint, but it was not until a teacher in junior high school discouraged him from painting, because of a lack of talent that he really got started. After his graduation from Laiyang Normal University in 1981, Zou Ping worked as a fine arts teacher for 6 years. He was then admitted to major in oil paintings at Qufu Normal University and Shandong Normal University. During this time his art was displayed by many newspapers and magazines.
In 1986 Zou Ping left for a trip to Europe to see the works of the old masters.
After graduating in 1991 from Qufu University Zou Ping spent 10 years in the private sector working in commerce. During this time he continued to paint and spent countless hours in book stores and libraries reading and studying about the European and American masters, but it was not until he got married that he began to re-think his life and career. He started to give art lectures at public or private art schools. In 2006 he established the "Chinese Neo-impressionistic School of Painting". The members were like minded artists of similar experience and with a deep dedication to art.
During this time a close friend studying art in Russia started to critique his method of composition and Zou Ping started to rethink and modify his art.
Zou Ping started his abstract art studies during his college days. He frequently visited and drew inspiration from one of the nationally famed contemporary artists. It was not until 2005 that he began to work on his abstract art. Zou Ping drew inspiration from his time as a college student, business man and teacher. He has blended many kinds of contemporary art theories and concepts as well as Chinese cultures and traditions in his work.
Zou Ping still lives in China and continues to paint and draw inspiration from music, movies, news, political events and the ever changing landscape of Beijing where he lives with his wife.
