Today San Xiao Jun lives in a small town in Shandong province with his wife where he makes a living as a professional painter and a fine arts teacher.
Much of his art reflects the daily surroundings in the coal belt of Northern China. The gray tones in his paintings reflect the daily life in this industrial area off the beaten path of tourists and outside of the main economic boom of contemporary China.
